The SkirtSports line launched in 2005, mirroring the idea that women should never have to sacrifice femininity for performance in their workout clothes. This design philosophy is applied across the Company’s product line, which includes a full line of Sportswear, Activewear and accessories. prAna’s product design philosophy mirrors the Company’s brand positioning.
Innovation and newness are core tenets for the design team. Inspiration is drawn from core customers– specifically climbers and yogis – as well as other outdoor athletes, action sports athletes and overall trends in youth culture. This more “global” approach to design gives the brand its crossover appeal and resonance in peripheral markets like running, cycling, and hiking.
Maria-Fernanda De La Vega, the founder of Body Angel is a native Colombian. She now lives in San Diego, California. Since Maria was a teenager, working out, feeling good, being fit and living a healthy lifestyle has been a very important part her of daily life; it has always been a priority. Comfortable work-out clothes are easy to find, but she wanted something more. She wanted clothes that were also fashionable, "different" and cute! Inspired by the wonderful colors of her native city's world famous Carnival Festival, Indonesian Batik, fading colors and tie-dye, Maria began working with a Latin designer, Mirla Soto, who is quite accomplished in this technique. The designs are a combination of the creative expression of Maria and the expertise of Ms. Soto.
